What you may notice
Symptoms can overlap with other conditions and vary between people.
- Often no symptoms before fracture
- Loss of height
- Back pain from spinal fractures
- Fragility fractures
Understanding care
Clinical care may include fracture-risk assessment, bone-density testing when appropriate and an individualized prevention plan. A qualified clinician decides which investigations and options fit the individual situation.
When to seek help
Suspected fracture or severe new pain after minor trauma needs prompt assessment. New neurological symptoms, severe injury or breathing difficulty requires urgent emergency care.
For severe breathing difficulty, collapse, suspected stroke, or another emergency, call local emergency services immediately. In India, call 112.
